Brits get their first click-to-buy TV ad facility

An innovative new service which lets viewers of TV ads buy items they've seen advertised through their smartphone or tablet computer has been launched.

Its developer, Zeebox, claims the service is the first of its kind in the UK.

According to Kamcity.com, the system will display a 'click-to-buy' button on viewers' connected devices within seconds of an advertisement hitting the screen. This denotes what type of product it is, such as a product, song or service.

By clicking the tag, the user is taken straight through to an online store, such as Amazon or Tesco, or to the advertiser's website where they can find out more information.

Anthony Rose, co-founder of Zeebox, said advertisers saw the facility to make TV ads interactive in this way as "the holy grail" for advertisers.

He added: "Consumers get the convenience of being able to react instantly to a TV advert, while brands benefit from shortening the distance between ad impression and product purchase."
