News International launches Facebook version of Fabulous magazine

A social media version of the former News of the World's colour glossy supplement, Fabulous, is being launched today.

News International trailed the launch by calling it its first 'social media magazine', which is now available via a Facebook app.

Promising original content every day, the app will appear in Facebook users' timelines, and content can be shared via both the leading social media site and Twitter, according to Mediaweek.co.uk.

Among its features will be an app which will recommend different types of clothing depending on the weather forecast.

The aim of the new e-publication, according to Brand Republic, is to build a following for the Fabulous brand on Facebook, and further promote sales of Fabulous magazine, which since the News of the World's closure has switched to being published with The Sun newspaper on Saturdays.

Publisher News International says that it is planning to offer sponsored content opportunities in the future, but as Facebook currently keeps all revenue from ads on its platform, along with data about users, it is thought that their use will be limited.
