The British public were behind almost one third of all online purchases made in Europe during 2009, according to a new report.
Brits spent a total of £38bn over the internet last year, accounting for 30 per cent of all online sales originating in Europe.
The report, compiled by the Centre for Retail Research, said internet sales grew by 12 per cent last year in spite of the recession.
According to the Press Association, the report also predicts the market will continue to grow as we head further into 2010, resulting in annual growth of 12.4 per cent.
