Orange plans for surge in iPhone interest - but it will come at a price

UK customers will have to hand over £383 for the privilege of using an iPhone 3G or 3GS on a pay-as-you-go tariff through Orange, it has been revealed.

The payment comprises the purchase price of the phone, plus an initial £50 minimum top-up.
Monthly contract customers will have to commit to a two-year term, and are being asked to pay £30 a month to qualify for a 3G model, or £45 a month for a 3GS.

Orange stores were planning to open from 7am on launch day to cater for anticipated demand.
