It's good to be in Manchester and at Lakestar Media

It is a pleasant coincidence but it doesn’t get better than this: Manchester is officially the best place to live in the UK, and Lakestar Media came third in Nearly Big category of the Best Places to Work, initiated by Crain’s Manchester Business. All the finalists were essentially the winners, and we announced it last month, placing everyone on the map, and for the first time showing our international staff to the world.

But more was to come, which we couldn’t have expected. The winners were further rated, to select the top three… and Lakestar Media, in the Nearly Big category (11 to 50 employees), was announced third! This was the biggest category, listing 12 contestants, so it is thrilling to be in one of the top three places. Here is what Crain’s wrote about our company:

“Lakestar Media is a fledgling digital marketing agency providing online marketing and web optimisation services to businesses throughout the UK. Services include search engine optimisation, paid search, affiliate marketing, display advertising and social media.

Formed in December 2007, the Manchester-based agency says it has created a fresh and lively working environment, based on mutual respect and common courtesy, where lateral thinking is positively encouraged.

Boasting an ethnically diverse and generation-spanning workforce of 14, Lakestar claims to offer opportunities to progress and develop rewarding careers. One new starter at the business told Crain’s: “They made me feel important and valued from day one.””

While Demetrious Loizou, Managing Director, was collecting awards, our Director of Sales Scott Reed displayed a very good photographic skill, capturing the moments. Manchester-based Cuckoo Design and Digicomm BCS from Bolton were first and second in our category, respectively. We sincerely congratulate them on this achievement. We are also grateful to the judges for rating us so high. Most importantly, just as Cuckoo Design, we are thrilled that our feeling about our company and workplace relations was so unanimous. This is fantastic, and clearly indicates what it is that we cannot afford losing.
